Support for Korean Education at Universities
Training for Korean language faculty and degree opportunities
Raising the quality of Korean language education in Korean studies departments requires strengthening the expertise of faculty. Based on needs surveys, the center runs training in pronunciation, grammar and writing, provides opportunities to pursue master's and doctoral degrees in Korea, and offers training to build expertise related to the TOPIK examination.
Policy research
The center supports the research capacity of faculty in anticipation of qualitative demand in Korean studies, and conducts surveys of the current situation in related fields — Korean language, Korean studies and the recruitment of international students — in order to respond to social demand.
Support for Korean cultural events
The center supports events hosted by university Korean studies departments, such as Hangeul Day celebrations and Korean culture experience programmes, to deepen understanding of Korean culture.
Regular council of Korean studies department heads
Since September 2016 the center has run a council to discuss issues and improvements for the development of Korean language and Korean studies. The regular council meets every two months to share and coordinate on the center's projects and on the running of Korean studies departments, while ad hoc meetings are held when a specific issue or need for cooperation arises.
